Laura Good, Chronic Symptom Recovery Coach

My Story: Why I Do This Work

For years, I couldn’t make sense of my body.

Tension headaches in my teens eventually gave way to chronic neck, shoulder, and low back pain—layered with ballet and yoga-related injuries that sometimes healed and sometimes didn’t. The inconsistency was confusing and unsettling. I became hyper-attuned to every sensation, quietly convinced that my body was

fragile and hard to heal.

Like so many people searching for relief, I tried everything

I was told should help: massage, physical therapy, chiropractic care, yoga therapy, strengthening programs, supplements. Some of it helped temporarily. None of it created the lasting change I was desperate for.

What I didn’t understand then and what many of my clients don’t realize either is this: chronic symptoms often have less to do with ongoing damage and far more to do with a brain and nervous system stuck in

patterns of over-protection.

Learning about neuroplastic pain in 2019 planted an important seed. But the real shift came in 2022, when I began working with Pain Reprocessing Therapy. For the first time, I wasn’t just addressing my body—I was working with the part of me that had never been included in my care: my brain and nervous system.

Slowly, I unwound the fear-based beliefs that had been keeping my symptoms alive. I learned how to calm my body’s threat response, relate to sensations differently,

and rebuild a felt sense of trust and safety.

By 2023, the chronic headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and low back pain that had shaped so much

of my life had fully resolved.

That experience changed everything.

From Personal Healing to Professional Purpose

I’ve been practicing massage therapy since 2015 and hold licenses in both Washington and Oregon. Over the years, I worked with countless clients who longed for the same thing I had wanted—lasting relief, not just

short-term improvement.

Massage, movement, and hands-on care can be incredibly supportive. But I often sensed something was missing. Many clients felt better for a few days or a week, only to find themselves right back where they started. I began to yearn for tools that could support deeper, more empowered healing—healing rooted in personal wisdom, nervous system safety, and self-determination,

not just external interventions.

My own recovery from chronic pain helped illuminate

what that missing piece was.

Neuroplastic healing bridged the gap between what I had been offering and what people truly needed. It allowed me to integrate my hands-on experience with modern pain science, mind-body medicine, and nervous system-based approaches that create real, lasting change.

Today, my work is primarily focused on chronic symptom recovery coaching—helping people retrain their brain and nervous system so they can move out of chronic stress patterns and back into lives defined by trust, vitality, and joy. I continue to practice massage therapy as well, and my hands-on background remains an important part of how I think about healing, especially when supporting clients in understanding whether their symptoms are best served by body-based care, nervous system retraining, or a combination of both.

This is a revolutionary moment in the science of chronic pain and chronic illness—even if the healthcare system hasn’t fully caught up yet. Being part of this shift gives my work profound meaning and purpose.

My Training & Approach

My work is informed by both lived experience and professional training. I bring a grounded, integrative lens that honors the whole person,

not just their symptoms.

My background includes:

  • Licensed Massage Therapist (Washington & Oregon)

  • ADAPT-Certified Functional Health Coach (Kresser Institute)

  • National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBHWC)

  • Training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy and nervous system-based, somatic approaches

I weave together neuroscience-informed pain recovery, emotional awareness, behavior change support, and functional health principles—always guided by what your system needs most.

What It’s Like to Work Together

I know firsthand how all-consuming chronic symptoms can be—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Pain and illness can quietly reshape your identity, your confidence, and your relationship with your body.

My role is not to “fix” you. It’s to walk alongside you as a guide and partner.

Together, we create a safe, supportive container where you can:

  • Understand what’s actually driving your symptoms

  • Learn new ways of relating to your body and nervous system

  • Build practical tools for navigating flares, stress, and uncertainty

  • Reclaim agency, confidence, and trust in yourself

Healing doesn’t come from doing more or pushing harder. Often, it comes from doing things differently—learning how to listen, respond, and support yourself in new ways.

You already carry more wisdom than you realize. My job is to help you uncover it.

If you’re curious whether this approach is right for you, the next step is a conversation.

A Little More About Me

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me connecting with nature—gardening, learning about herbal medicine, cooking nourishing meals, traveling, or immersing myself in music from around the world.

I’m also a devoted cat mom to Franki and Ruby, who are daily reminders of the power of rest, play, and attunement.

Ultimately, my own health journey shaped a calling: to be of service as others navigate their own healing paths, to celebrate their wins, and to remind them—again and again

—that change is possible.
